Blue Torch FabWorks, Inc offers high steer arms for a few different applications. The most popular selling BTF high steer arm and industry standard is for the Dana 60 kingpin axle application. We recently redesigned our 60 and 44 arms to give them a more updated look! We also make high steer arms for Unimog 404 Axles, Dana 30.
The Dana 30 BTF High Steer arm is for unit bearing style knuckles like those found on the Jeep YJ and TJ. The Dana 30 arm bolts to the unit bearing bolts, the tie rod hole, and two additional holes which the installer has to drill. No worries as the holes are easy to locate once the arm is bolted in place. With the Dana 30 high steer arm you will have to switch to rod ends rather than tre joints. The purpose has to do with the way the arm bolts to the knuckle. The Dana 30 arm was designed to be used for leaf spring applications, but can be used with coils and coilover shocks. It should be noted using the Dana 30 arm on a TJ will required many modifications. Call the shop if you have specific questions.
The BTF Dana 44 High Steer arm is designed for “flat top” style knuckles. The arms have three mounting holes designed for factory style conical washers. The arms are offered for TRE and Heim style joints. We also offer a mounting kit which includes studs, conical washers, flat washers, and nuts. The arm is CNC machined and is 1.25” thick. If you bend or break this arm we will replace the arm.
BTF builds the industry standard for Dana 60 high steer arms. The overall design has been copied by a few companies. To be sure you are buying actual BTF product we do have the letters BTF machined into the top side of the arm body. Our Dana 60 high steer arms come with a life time warranty. The main arm body measures 1.25 inches thick and the arm cap which houses the kingpin spring measures 1 inch thick. The arms are designed to work with Solid 6 bolt knuckles, Reid Racing 5 bolt knuckles or factory 4 bolt knuckles. If you want to run with Reid Racing knuckles simply drill the threads out of the 5th hole. The arms are offer in both TRE and Heim style. Like the Dana 44 arms we also offer a stud kit for the Dana 60 arms.
The last high steer arm on the list is the Unimog 404 arm. The arm bolts to the portal box. The Mog arms are only offered in Heim style and they do put the heim in double sheer. The arms are manufactured from CNC laser cut plate and welded together.
